On December 21, 2025, the "Inaugural Meeting and Academic Symposium of the Anesthesiology Professional Committee of Guangdong Research Hospital Association" ——a parallel session of the annual academic conference of the Guangdong Research Hospital Association,was successfully held at the Yuexiu International Conference Center in Guangzhou. The conference was organized by the Guangdong Research Hospital Association and hosted by the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. The event consisted of two parts: the establishment ceremony of the Professional Committee and academic symposium. Leading experts and scholars in anesthesiology from medical institutions and research institutes across the province gathered to explore innovative development pathways for anesthesiology under the research hospital construction model, promoting clinical need-driven scientific translation and interdisciplinary integration. Following the inauguration ceremony, the first academic symposium was held, during which several experts delivered keynote presentations on the latest research advances in anesthesiology, fostering lively discussions and a strong academic atmosphere.

Professor Hei Ziqing from the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University gave a talk titled "Key Points of Discipline Development in the High-Quality Development of Public Hospitals," focusing on four major directions: high-quality development of public hospitals, performance evaluation of tertiary public hospitals, national clinical specialty capability assessment, and clinical specialty construction. He clarified the interrelationships among these four high-quality development is the core direction, tertiary hospital evaluation is the tool, specialty assessment is the benchmark, and clinical specialty construction is the implementation vehicle. Drawing on practical experience, he analyzed that discipline development must align with evaluation indicators and assessment standards, anchor on "clinical needs + cutting-edge research," and achieve a virtuous cycle of "clinical care-research-influence" through resource integration. He also highlighted the central role of disciplinary echelons and subspecialty layout in promoting high-quality hospital development, providing a practical framework for hospitals within the province.

The successful inauguration of the Anesthesiology Professional Committee of Guangdong Research Hospital Association and the academic symposium carry profound significance for academic exchange and industry development in anesthesiology. As a specialized academic organization in anesthesiology for the province, the Committee will leverage the platform resources of the Guangdong Research Hospital Association, unite high-quality research and academic forces across the province, establish cross-institutional and cross-disciplinary research collaboration and technology translation channels, and help overcome core technical bottlenecks in the discipline.
